(South Pasadena) — Mayor Pro Tempore of South Pasadena Michael Cacciotti today announced his intentions to run for the State Assembly in the new 41st District, as well as the local leaders who have already endorsed him, with an official announcement to come later.
“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the State Assembly,” said Cacciotti. “I look forward to reaching out to my neighbors about issues like jobs, the economy, education, transportation, energy, fiscal responsibility and the environment in the coming months.”
Cacciotti also released a list of leaders who have already endorsed his campaign. They include:
- State Controller John Chiang
- Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District Director Charles Treviño
- South Pasadena School Board Member Joseph Loo
- South Pasadena City Councilmember Richard Schneider
- South Pasadena City Councilmember David Sifuentes
- South Pasadena City Councilmember Philip Putnam
- Azusa City Councilmember and President of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Government Angel Carrillo
The new 41st Assembly District includes Pasadena, South Pasadena, East Pasadena, Altadena, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, La Verne, Claremont, Upland, San Antonio Heights, Falling Springs and the Los Angeles National Forest.
Michael Cacciotti is a Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice and an elected member of the South Pasadena City Council. Serving the people of South Pasadena since 2001, he has twice been chosen to serve as Mayor and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem. An environmental advocate, Michael also serves as a liaison to several local city commissions. He has been an advisory board member on the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy since 2001 and a governing board member on the South Coast Air Quality Management District, representing the Eastern region of Los Angeles County, since 2008. He was a volunteer at St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels for over a decade, currently volunteers at South Pasadena’s local Senior Center, and has served as a youth (AYSO), high school, and college soccer coach for over 30 years. Michael has lived in the district for almost 20 years. He and his wife, Annie, live in South Pasadena with their labrador retrievers.
